Well, Symm has just has one of the worst days of his life (so far at least). I mean, up until now, there's been, ya'know, a party. And whilst really grim nastiness was happening, there was also a prospect of working together as a team to save the world.

So in rough summary, the party has just arrived at a town. Surrounded by nomads and hobgoblins, because there are undead patrolling.

Previously:

Borric - Up To Something with 'Zar' (sp?)
Hawthorn - Has tried to blow up party members with fireballs. And on a separate occasion has tried to kill a party member. Has also hidden in his room writing all over walls and has been paranoid in the extreme. Now seems to have stabbed himself, in a fit of lunacy in the temple of Morr, and is now dead. But still mobile.
Zar. Seems to be dead. And conspiring with Borric.
Tarrim. Well, remains mostly a liablity. Hasn't gotten us into _too_ much trouble recently, but I think that's related to [livejournal.com profile] sebbo not making it to a few sessions.

So anyway, Symm is turning a blind eye to the conspiring in corners thing, and the being dead thing (after all, _real_ zombies shuffle around, groaning and try to kill you). And the incipient madness, well, Hawthorn _is_ a bit handy with a fireball, so even if he's a bit of a psycho, well...

So anyway, this town. We decide to investigate. There's zombies patrolling the walls, but with a spot of sheer surface scaling, we're in.
At which point Zar and Hawthorn decided to 'go zombie' and wander around the wall groaning. Hawthorn is actually close enough to attack, and does. Fortunately, Symm and Borrie jump clear, onto a roof.

Breaking into someone's house through the thatch (we're heros in a town of undead, so this is OK) we enter the inn.
Someone comes up the stairs, and upon seeing us, does the whole 'zombie brains' thing and starts bashing down the door.
Borrie and Symm are all about to make their escape, when it becomes just at bit too much for Symm. (He rolls a crit fail on his 'Fear' check) And he collapses in a heap gibbering. (Wheee, 6 insanity points means new madness for him - memo to self, see about fate points on that one).

At which point, Borrie decides to go have a chat with someone, who's almost certainly the necromancer in charge (on the grounds of still being alive), in the court yard, you know, as you do, and Symm is carried off to their 'happy freezy death pit' by a load of zombies. And is thrown into it, to die. He manages to escape, via some not amazingly impressive trickery involving 'produce small creature'.

Spends a few hours up a tower freezing his nuts off, whilst his Zar and Hawthorn come off watch, and sort of 'settle in' with the town as though it were all business as normal. Oh and so does Borrie.

Manages to escape back to the nomad camp across the rooftops, and is fed some healing stuff by the nomads in charge.

So now he's in the middle of siberia (equivalent) in autumn, with some nomads. Two of his travelling partners have 'gone zombie' and have jumped right to the top of the list of 'things to kill'. Borrie has betrayed him to his evil undead minions.

The only guy he's even remotely inclined to trust now is Tarim, who's trouble incarnate, and that's only in a 'well, maybe he can occupy a demon whilst Symm is shooting at it from a distance'.
Is currently reviewing the state of play, trying to figure out where he got duped.
Is giving thought to disappearing and living in a forest somewhere, trying to destroy the 'fallen betrayers' in a bold 'well, you can't die, but I figure I can try and detach your limbs with a longbow until you're going nowhere', or just going north and trying to kill demons for a bit before an untimely end. (Sadly, option 2 seems to be the only one where Symm carries on as a PC, and then only briefly)

Damn this game is fun.
