Ahh, memory. How it cuts both ways, clearing and clouding.
Yesterday, I had the horrible realisation that my back pocket was feeling lighter than it should. A brief panic, abated as I relised I knew exactly where my wallet was.
It was in the pocket of my other trousers.
A sudden flashback to that morning sprung to mind. Where I'd decided to do a batch of washing. And decided that those trousers I'd been wearing yesterday could do with a wash. So I emptied the pockets, transferring coins and keys to the clean pair of trousers, loaded the washing machine, and let it go.

But this time, my memory revealed that I had indeed failed to notice that I had a back pocket. And this was where I kept my wallet. My own subconcious had hidden this fact from me, until that very moment.

And so now I have a soggy wallet. Oddly the fiver in there survived. Regrettably the book of stamps, and the SINergy IC cash did not.

It makes me wonder actually, if there's a specification at the bank of England that says that money should be 'machine washable'.

Edit: And one of my workmates has just pointed out I should be going to the police station right now. After all, money laundering is a crime.
