Well, Ex housemate number 2 popped into the council offices today, to settle up 'a third' of the outstanding bill with the council.

When he arrives, the lass at the council offices does the clicky click thing, and mentions 'oh, that one's been passed to the bailiffs'.

What a lovely thing to hear.

As 'bill sharing victims' we are collectively liable for the sum of £828.36, courtesy of ex-housemate number 1. Well, presumably. That's the sum that _seems_ to add up to outstanding for last year, + the sum due for this year (not including payments made by ex-housemate 2 and myself).

This is just really not the kind of thing that makes me a happy bunny. Especially after such a happy and mellow weekend.

I doubt it'll happen at first throw, but legally, we're entitled to 1 'final demand' and then an arrest warrant can be issued. I'd _imagine_ they'll prefer to arrange some kind of repayment terms, because at least that way the get their money, but ya'know, I'd really rather not find out.

I also would, at some point in my life, rather like to get a mortgage and buy a house. I really don't want to know what kind of a difference 'bad credit history' is going to make to this.

Mutter grr argh grump.

I used to think the whole Friday 13th was a myth.

So of course, I've no real idea what to do now, apart from 'see what happens'. I can find £800, at least, assuming my credit rating hasn't been completely fucked. I'd really rather not, but given the choice between that, and the alternative...

Then of course, I'm left with the unpleasant situation of what next. Write off £800 (or maybe "only" 400, because I _might_ be able to persuade ex-housemate 2 to assist, but I doubt he's any more enthusiastic about such a choice than I am) or have a word with the small claims court and try and take action against ex-housemate 1 for money that I'm well aware he doesn't have. Or maybe get in touch with housemate 1's parents, mention that a fuckup has happened, and see if they're prepared to sort it.

Oh well, I figure my life was going too well anyway.
