Well, Maelstrom was really ace.
I enjoyed it immensely. Even the whole execution and mob scene, although I apologise for the amount of chaos and mayhem the fallout caused...

Yes 'fessing up the piracy was a little rash, but in all honesty, I was wanting to run 'legit-ish' as James Lyrus, rather than how it turned out. (Getting executed for piracy for an empty ship though. Argh!).

Annoyingly, finding out later that the sacuzza were going to be wanting a _reasonable_ amount of cash, and if I'd known that, then ... well I probably wouldn't have felt forced into piracy.

*shrugs* it is done.

Thorn, I'm not sure how i'll go with him. I'll be there next event, but whether it's 'officially' the same character or not, I don't know. (I'm looking to find out a little more about new world deities etc.). Hippy druid priest sort of thing. I think that'll work nicely, and mean I get to go, see the factions, socialise and not run around like a loony trying to sort stuff out.

On an OC note, I have no problems with remaining 'OC contact'. Exactly how things develop IC, ... well I guess I'll have to see how that goes ...

There were a few things I was a little unhappy with during the event, but I'll lay them aside for now, until I've had a chance to speak to a few people. I found dealing with GOD to be most frustrating, especially the whole disappearing food issue, and the looong delay on lammies. I suspect we'd have been able to sell our goods if we'd been selling on friday/saturday morning...

I was a little irritated by the whole 'piracy' thing - the fact that you boarded ships, seized cargo and I guess ended up with something to sell if you were successful was one thing. The fact that despite succesfully doing so, there was no choice to steal/scuttle the ship, I can _sort_ of see - after all, it's a little harsh to lose PC resources in downtime. (although the cargo?). But giving them a 'this ship attacked you' on their downtime was the thing that bothered me somewhat. I mean, the 'let the witnesses (and their ship) go' is really the actions of a very stupid pirate.

If it'd been "A man of war boarded you, stormed your ship and took your stuff" with perhaps a chance to get the name if you were able to resist them.... well that woulda been different.

On a completely unrelated note, it seems that AAH are recruiting again (the same place I went before). I turned 'em down, because ... well the time wasn't right, and the pay wasn't _much_ better. The new role, is "as before + solaris and 'senior' stuck in the description.". Oh and 34k a year + on call. The recruitment agent has been in touch to see if I'm interested...

There's definitely a temptation there, but I was, and I think still am, thinking of holding on to september/october. (and have just booked almost the last of my holiday for the next maelstrom - a half day left).

I'm not too sure what was going on with that pirate thingy. I know the empty ship was just there to catch pirates in the act, and had a scary number of men at arms on board.
