Well, I've just had a phone call, making me an offer.
30,500 pa,
On call allowance (after settling in, 300 or so per week pro rata)
Laptop and mobile.
25 days holiday / year (excluding bank holidays)
pension scheme, with 2% deducted from my wages, and 2% paid by them (additional available)
Staff discount and flexible benefits on stuff.

Now in real terms, it's a 2 grand a year pay increase. (Not counting the on call, but that's a trade off for the screwing your life gets).
The job is in coventry, so a little shorter on commute time (which of course, means that most of the commute time is rush hour traffic).
They offer 'advancement, reviews and proceedures'.

Alstom have already had a round of redundancies. They've also announced a pay freeze. This isn't a good sign IMO for the company overall. Then again, they've also just won some big contracts, and the move to optimize etc. effectively means that the rugby datacentre is growing.

The problem is I'm _involved_ in stuff in Alstom. My current boss is a really good bloke to work for, and there's new tech being brought in and implemented. By me. Which is cool.

And of course, there's the associated difficulties in changing job, taking on new ways of doing things, transferring pensions, balancing financial commitments over changing, that sort of thing.

And of course, they want to know real soon. Like tomorrow.
Sigh. I'm really going to need to think.
