I was thinking, that swimming in the sea is a rather neat life metaphor.
Waves come along, and you've either got to ride over them, or through them, or swim away. Some swim further out, where there are bigger waves, others stick closer to the shore, and don't range so far. Sometimes a storm will blow up, and many waves will come in close succession.
Every now and then, the waves are too much, and you have to get someone who's a stronger swimmer to help out. You can always either founder, or keep swimming, but you've got no real choice about what waves come. (Except occasionally, when something you do causes ripples and possibly bigger waves)

Anyone got any other life metaphors? That's one of my personal favourites, but I'm sure each see the world a difference way.

Whilst I'm writing this, I'm actually installing Solaris on a few workstations. Thankfully the install process is automated, but it's still a good work avoidance blag.

So I thought I'd do a quick poll:

I noticed you voted on my poll (thank you!), so thought I'd come and say something original like...er...hello.

So, hello. Nice layout.

I always find a spot of LJ linking to be ... well an interesting diversion. (I would say waste of time, but it isn't exactly, it's more constructive procrastination.)

Hello.

I find it somewhat fascinating the diversity of people on LJ. But by the same token, I remain impressed with how small the world actually is ;p

"By their LJ shall ye know them" :)
